Creating a Airtable base for a Depop store.

My cousin approached to help her design a process hat would streamline her resell business. She had amassed a lot of clothes from being the recipient of excess clothes when her friends have emigrated and spending her weekends thrifting from the street stalls that sold secondhand clothing. She wanted to run her reselling business without affecting her day 9–5 plus the 2 hours of studying that she was busy with at the time.

She asked for a way to run her business that was easy, seamless and preferably centralised. Since she was yet to start her business I decided to create a prototype for her in Airtable, using Depop as the online marketplace of choice. The reason for choosing Depop is due to the wealth of knowledge available online on how to run Depop stores as a side hustle.

Task List

In order to design the process, I first had to determine what was the task she was trying to achieve with the workflow. After going back and forth we defined the objective to be; “To source a secondhand piece of clothing and deliver it to a buyer when sold.” As a result, we were able to define the input, transformation and output

  • Input → sourcing a secondhand piece of clothing
  • Transformation → the steps between sourcing the piece clothing until it is delivered to the buyer
